Letter, 1776.

A letter, dated Pensacola, from Peter Chester, British governor of the province of West Florida (1770-1781) to the Lords Commissioners of the Treasury. In the letter Chester informs the Lords Commissioners of the erection of forts on the Ohio River by the American rebels and their threat to the province, of the arrival of British reinforcements, and of Chester's actions in constructing defense works and his drawing on Treasury bills to fund them.
